Nebraska Success

The nasty weather could not keep us from scoring at Fur and Feather Outdoors. On the last day we finally had the opurtunity to take a nice buck. Jason had been seeing this deer up in the canyons and our setup in the Summit blind kept us warm enough to stay out in the elements long enough to get a shot. Man does it feel good when all that hard work pays off!

Winter Wonderland!

Wouldn’t you know that as soon as we would land in Nebraska an arctic blast would roll right in!
After one day of hunting the temps dropped and so did the snow. We have seen a ton of deer (both whitetail and mulies) but no shooters yet. This afternoon should be the day because the snow should let up and give everything a chance to head to the food sources.

Well things did not go as well as we had hoped for here in Illinois. I still have my bow tag and Tony still has his gun tag as we head back home to Tennessee. I sat in the miserable rain for 3 days hoping to get the chance to pull back my Matthews. We saw a few young bucks still chasing does but most of the big boys had their favorite doe pinned down. This past Friday (Nov. 20) was opening day for gun and I had to get back behind the camera to film Tony . The first day was great! Every deer in the county were on their feet from all the hunters in the timber but none made the fatal mistake of coming in front of our setup. It came to a sudden halt as it warmed up and people left the timber.

I guess its back home to spend time with the family before we pack up and head west to Nebraska to hunt with Jason & Britney Edney of Fur & Feathers Outdoors. Hopefully our luck will change.

Kiowa Creek

Kiowa Creek has put us on the giant deer this week. Pro Staffer Clay Hall has killed an awesome 4X4 on Friday evening and I have been filming another pro staffer ever since and seeing several hugh bucks. This morning the show has moved in and a 20 mph wind is making it very hard to keep warm. We are sitting in a tree stand and I hope we get another great buck.

Headed to Colorado

I am getting my bags packed today to leave tomorrow and head for Elbert Colorado. I’m heading out with Clay Hall of Summit Tree Stands, hoping to video a little spot and stalk as well as tree stand hunting. The forecast is a lot cooler there than here in Kentucky so the warm clothes are packed, I can’t wait to see the beautiful country of Colorado, its going to be awesome.

Well I guess Mother Nature is against us this week! As Tony and I pack for Illinois, Toby from Eagle Outfitters just called to inform us that it has been raining all morning and should continue to rain for next 2 days. Tony has a muzzleloader tag and I still have my archery tag burning a hole in my pocket! After being behind the camera all season I was really looking forward to being in the shooter’s seat for a change. This is the same place Tony killed a mid 140 buck back in Oct. Wyoming Whitetail by Scott Rob

I just got back from a whitetail hunt in WY, no kill in that one but not
every trip is successful. Today I got Kris McCormack, Kevin Baxter, Mike
Auten and myself packed up to go on more hunts. For the next two weeks it’s
all hands on deck as most areas are hitting the rut. I will be filming Joe
Thomas in Ohio hunting big whitetails and Clay Hall in Colorado looking for a trophy Mule Deer. Hopefully we will get some good reports from our hunt teams and there will be many calls saying “Big Buck Down!”

Chasing Bulls in Colorado High Country

So far the view here in Montrose, Colorado has been nothing but breath taking. I have witnessed some of the most beautiful scenery a man could possibly lay eyes on. Mountain Peaks, Spruce trees, and a glorious background .Truly this is God’s country. I’m joining Phil Phillips as we are in pursuit of the illustrious Bull Elk. Nothing has happened so far, but everything looks to be in place. Kris McCormack another camera- man is with another Summit hunter in hopes of bagging a trophy Elk. I’ll be bringing you more updates, gotta get back to the pursuit.
